Family Times
Thursday, January 28, 2010

My last post for the English assignment! I am going to talk about family. I enjoyed the moments when we spent our holidays together, especially out of Singapore. That meant a relaxing time either in the warm sun or the bitter cold. Last year, we went to Hokkaido, Japan. Even though I have been to cold countries like Korea, China and Japan(last year was the second time people), that was the first time I actually saw snow falling on my head, or rather my warm jacket.(or coat, I don't really know which...)

Since there were no direct flight to Hokkaido, we took a plane to Narita, Tokyo. Being there reminded me of Disneyland. (Ah...Good times) I heard Lloyd went there last year, too bad I did not see him. We spent a night there, before travelling to Hokkaido by bus. Snow landed at our feet on the first morning in Hokkaido, imagine how excited my family and I were when we saw it. We had hot springs and ate Japanese hotpot. I guess I am lucky in many ways. Our tour guide said that we were lucky, because global warming is having its effects on the falling of snow. Maybe another decade or so, we(that means everyone) may not see snow ever again!

My holiday in Hokkaido, with my family!

This brings me to one of the topics which I would like to bring up. The killing of wild endangered species. Why must people kill animals? I mean isn't meat like beef and fish enough already? And is collecting tusks and horns and shells really inevitable? I for one, strongly oppose the killings of endangered species.

Well, back to the topic. As I was saying, family time is important. So my advice to all of you is to go out on holidays! Well, i am tired(honestly!) and it is past my bedtime. So till then...

Choices...
Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Do you always have difficulty making choices? One of the questions I usually ponder about is how to make choices without hurting the other party. Well I do. One example is choosing between friends.(Not going to name anyone) Ok, in sec 1, I hung out with my friends, always together in groups for projects and etc. However, this year I made friends with Caleb and co.(just trying to be friendly) And now I can't seem to communicate with the previous group i used to hang out with. I mean...I tried to start a conversation, but it always ends abruptly. Another example...is choosing your partners for projects. Yesterday, our history teacher, Mr Thiru, required us to join in pairs for our TFU(teaching for understanding). Well 2 people came to find me.(I am happy to get even that much of attention) I chose Dao Yi instead of the other party(I don't want an angry mob of his friends after me, so i am not going to name him) Well, after that he looked really hurt and is going to work solo for this project. I felt and still feel really bad. I feel sorry for him.
Okay... enough of unhappy stuff and I shall move on to today. We had PE for first period. Usually i feel energetic in the morning, but when PE started at 8am(we had to change into PE attire, and we had to rush down from assembly) , I felt tired and restless. I played floorball and did some pretty good defending. (maybe I am exaggerating). After that, nothing much happened. We had our usual lessons and stayed back for BI. Hudson and I had to do a presentation. We made quite a few people laugh, even those whom I am not close with. Hopefully, that session will strengthen our friendship.
I have got to sign off now. It is late and I have not bathed. so kudos for now...

Eventful Days
Tuesday, January 26, 2010

My third post! I am going to write about my days, today & on Saturday. Well, let's go according to the sequence of events, starting with Saturday...
I have Scouts every Saturday. So I have to wake up at 6.45 am, and as usual, I have to count on my father to wake me up. You know, some people have their own alarm clocks in their heads(mental clock of course). Like they tell themselves to wake up at 6, and they wake up at 6. I wish I have the will to wake myself up, but I always feel so tired until I just fall back on my soft comfy pillow and start a new dream... zzz... Oh yes, to continue. That particular Saturday, we had our PT(I forgot what it stands for) as usual. This time round was a little different. There were new Sec 1s so instead of going to East Coast Park, we, that is, the Sec 2s, 3s and 4s ran around the learning block in school.(Don't tell Mr Chia, though i think he already knows)Our seniors have done pioneering, a bridge, and it is quite sturdy. I learnt new foot drill commands that day too. After that I went home and blah blah blah... I won't fill you in on the details, just being lazy I guess.
Nothing much happened on Sunday, apart from getting a haircut that is seriously short. I don't know how my friends think of me now...(geeky, handsome, I just don't know)
Today, we had RSP Sec 1 orientation for 1A. All the plans on where should we set up our stations, clues that would lead the Sec 1s to each of the stations and etc. , were pretty last minute. First, XZ( Xiang Zheng, if you don't know) had a competition today and told me this morning that he could not make it.(Not blaming him) This left me quite frustrated. What do I do? How do I Leave a good impression on the Sec 1s?(We were in charge of spice smelling) I pondered over this questions. However the fact that we( Evan, Justin & a couple of slackers) managed to pull through actually proofs to me that we can do it. I did most of the talking(all of it actually), Evan did most of the blindfolding and Justin pretty much stood by me and supported me. For that I thank them. However this orientation might have been close to disastrous. Apparantly we did not leave much of an impression on the Sec 1s and there was no cooperation and sec 1s did not know what to do. Other than that, we had fun(sort of). It had been an interesting and learning experience.
Well that was quite a long post. I have GTG. Wait for my next post...

Days out of the country
Thursday, January 21, 2010

Would you go to the extent of leaving your friends behind to be with your family?

This sentence may sound a bit harsh, because families play one of the most important part in our lives. However, some of us have known our friends since kindergarten or primary school until we could not bear to leave them. Take me for example. This may come as a shock, but my father has to go to Malaysia for work, until 2012. I am in a dilemma. Should I join him in KL, or stay and continue studying in Victoria School. As i said in my previous post, i dislike making difficult choices. I seriously don't know.

Oh well, no more of this. Let's move on to a little more pleasant stuff. During the December holidays, RSP( regional studies programme) organized a trip to Selanggor. We had a taste of kampong life there. Like the food, culture and the starry night, which you cannot see in Singapore coz' of light pollution. We watched fireflies and a traditional dance. Evan and I discovered a scorpion in the bathroom. I accidentally squished it with the bathroom slipper. Apart from the cold water for bathing and the scary and gory movies they showed on the bus, the rest were pleasant memories. It had been a fun experience, but I am in no hurry to go back to Selangor.

I did not take any pictures, unfortunately, so I am unable to post any pics. Well i have GTG. So farewell for now...

My very first post
Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Hello and welcome to my blog.

This is my first post in my very first blog. So any suggestions for improvements (chatbox) are most welcome. Oh yes, any posts in this blog is NOT intended to hurt any feelings.
Well, now that I am done with the introductions, I shall stop wasting time and start with my day. The first period of the day was Pe(Physical Education, for anyone who doesn't know). We did a 800 metres run, standard test. We were supposed to run under 3.09 minutes to pass. Obviously, fast runners like Caleb, Gabriel, XZ, Hudson and Rafid passed. I almost joined them, ALMOST, because I missed the passing mark by 1 sec. 1 sec! Can you believe it?(Rhetorical question by the way) I was that close... So frustrating, I feel depressed. However, I pleaded with Mr Amir to give me that one second. The good news was, he said yes! The bad news was, I doubt he can remember.
After that hair-tearing period, the rest of the day went on like a breeze. No EL, barely 20 mins of maths and just running through the textbook for chinese. (I am not complaining)
Next period after lunch was Bahasa Indonesia in the RSP room. During that period, this person, X (i am not doing to mention names, obviously), took my textbooks because he thought i took his water bottle and hid it. If X is reading this, let it be known that i did NOT take your bottle. There are 2(maybe more) things I can't tolerate. One of them is being wrongly accused. The other is judgement, having to choose.
Well, i am pretty much done here. GTG(got to go) sleep now.

Jared
